New Patients
When you first come to Ribellia Family Chiropractic, expect to spend forty-five minutes to an hour for your first visit.
We consider your first visit in our office a time for us to gather information about you and your health. Upon arriving for your first visit you will be greeted by one of our receptionists who will go over the paperwork needed regarding your health concern.
When completed you will be introduced to the doctor for a one-on-one consultation. The doctor will gather all of the important information about your current condition and your health history.
Examination
The doctor will then determine if your condition is one that may be corrected through chiropractic care. The doctor will perform a comprehensive examination consisting of variety of physical tests, as well as a thorough Gonstead chiropractic examination.
At this point, we decide whether it is necessary to take x-rays or not. In most cases we do utilize x-rays as often times it is difficult to know for sure the condition of your spine and joints…and we WILL NOT guess with your health. Our office has an x-ray suite on site so we will be able make that a very efficient process for you.
When the doctor is certain that all the information necessary for your case has been obtained, your first visit will be over. You will be scheduled for a special appointment for the following day to review your films and examination findings as well as get started on any necessary treatment.
Day Two
Expect to spend thirty to forty minutes on your second visit for your report of findings. The doctor will go over the findings and result of your exam and how chiropractic care may be able to help you.
We encourage you to bring someone with you to support you in your care. Often times, the doctor will go over a number of things in a short period of time, many of them new and different than what you’ve heard before, so it’s nice to have an “extra set of ears” along with you.
Giving you a Clear Picture
By the time the doctor is finished with the report, you should have a very clear picture as to what is wrong with you, what caused it to get that way, how we can help, and what is going to happen if it isn’t fixed. You will be given plenty of opportunity to ask questions as well.
Following the doctor’s portion of the report, a “test adjustment” may be given to determine how your body and spine will react to the chiropractic adjustment. After this the doctor will sit down and go over recommendations for care as well as things you can be doing in between your office visits to accelerate the healing process.
Follow Up and/or Regular Visits
A typical visit at Ribellia Family Chiropractic should last about 20 minutes.
Your visit will include a brief consultation and examination follow by either an Gonstead or Upper Cervical adjustment depending of your need that day. After your visit with the doctor, you may be asked to rest or placed on therapy including ice, heat, or traction. These are designed to provide a quicker response to care.
The Gonstead Adjustment
The focus of the Gonstead adjustment is to be as specific, precise and accurate as possible, addressing only the problem areas (areas of subluxation). Great care is taken to ensure a mechanically correct position and precise thrust to provide the most accurate and painless adjustment possible. It is the goal of your Gonstead doctor to restore and maintain optimal health by locating and correcting any interference to the nervous system caused by vertebral subluxation.
The Upper Cervical Adjustment
If the Doctor determines that your condition is one that will respond well to Upper Cervical chiropractic, the doctor will use the Orthospinology technique with the Laney instrument. There is no twisting or cracking involved in this technique. After your spinal correction, 2 post x-rays will be taken to verify that we have improved your spinal alignment
